Interview: Levan Maisuradze on the save that sent Georgia through
The national team goalkeeper reflects on a career-defining night — and why this generation is different.
Two days after his 14-save performance sealed qualification, we sat down with goalkeeper Levan Maisuradze at the national training centre.
You looked calm on that final save. Were you?
“Honestly? No. But we had practised exactly that situation. When the ball came, my body just knew what to do. That is what preparation gives you.”
What makes this squad special?
“We grew up together in the academies. There is trust here that you cannot buy. We defend for each other.”
